Kid-friendly care for flat feet, in-toeing, heel pain, warts, and ingrown nails in children and teens.
Children's feet are still developing, which means many problems can be corrected far more easily now than in adulthood — and some 'they'll grow out of it' issues shouldn't be waited out. We make visits calm, quick, and kid-friendly.
If something about your child's feet or walk doesn't look right, a quick check now beats a bigger problem later.
Request an AppointmentA great deal of pediatric foot care is reassurance. Flexible flat feet are normal in young children, in-toeing usually resolves with growth, and many gait quirks parents worry about are developmental stages rather than problems. Treating those unnecessarily wastes money and teaches a child that their body needs fixing.
The skill is knowing which findings do warrant attention: pain, a child opting out of activities they used to enjoy, tripping or frequent falls, rigid rather than flexible deformity, uneven shoe wear, or asymmetry between the two feet. We evaluate carefully, explain what is developmental and what is not, and intervene only when there is a reason to.
Heel pain in an active child between roughly eight and fourteen is usually Sever's disease — irritation of the heel's growth plate from repetitive impact. It is very treatable and resolves permanently once the growth plate closes, but it is worth confirming, since fractures and other causes can mimic it.
Other findings that deserve an exam: a child who limps without an obvious injury, pain that persists rather than coming and going with activity, an ingrown toenail that is red or draining, warts that are spreading, or any foot pain in a child that wakes them at night.
Pediatric treatment has to be realistic about how children actually live. Sever's disease responds to activity modification, heel cushioning, and calf stretching — not a season on the bench. Ingrown toenails are handled with a brief in-office procedure where the numbing is done gently and carefully; most kids are surprised how quick it is and walk out on their own.
When support is genuinely needed, simple orthotics usually do the job, and children generally adapt to them within days. We explain everything to the child directly, not just the parent — kids follow a plan far better when they understand what it is for.
